The Washington D.C rank first among the 40 cities with the widest gap between the poor and the rich, just like Beijing. The income gap is also big in other cities, but the differnce is not as pronounced. Current economic progress is not able to help out the poor. It just didn't benefit them as much as it did the rich. Credit quality in other classes of consumer debt has been improving; delinquency rate on student loans are rising.
